Music

From the youngest ages, through to graduation, HSC students enjoy participating in the art of music.  In the Montessori School and Junior School, singing is integrated into much of the curriculum, as well as in public presentations.  The Junior Choir is an active group, and often sings in the greater Hamilton community.  Singing is often accompanied by creative movement and Orff instruments.

As students move into the Middle School, their musical horizons expand.  Instrumental music study begins in grade 6, and the Middle School Choir plays an important role in College functions, especially Carol Service.  Middle School instrumental ensembles include the Grade 6/7 Concert Band, Grade 8 Concert Band, and the Middle School Jazz Band.  These groups perform often at local music festivals and HSC events.

In the Senior School, students can choose from an abundance of music courses that include vocal music, instrumental music, and jazz.  HSC Senior ensembles have consistently earned Gold Standards in music festivals locally and internationally.

Each year there are school musicals prepared and presented in the Middle School and Senior School that delight and enthrall audiences.  Wonderful sets, and costumes compliment the skills of HSC students in order to bring Broadway to HSC.

HSC promotes the private study of music at the College. Students can choose to study piano, or any string, wind or percussion instrument from an impressive array of the areas top professional musicians and teachers. It is all right here at HSC.
